As the holiday weekend is quickly approaching, what do you and your family do for Easter or Passover? What are some of your favourite traditions? If you do not celebrate either, what are some activities you enjoy doing over a long weekend?
My family was never big into Easter so our celebrations are quite small. We usually just go over to my grandmother's house for a lunch or dinner and give each other some chocolates. Other than that we just stay home and do whatever. I really do appreciate the long weekend though it's a nice break from school.
My family has not really ever celebrated Easter with the bunny and chocolate but since it is always a long weekend around that time my cousins come to visit and we have dinner at my grand parents house. I normally take this extra time to play more video games than normal and do any important home work and also catch up on sleeping.
I love Easter! The time with family is super nice and It is usually nice outside and the 5 day break from school is always very well deserved. The food at Easter is always sooo good and I enjoy getting to see all of my cousins and relatives. The day after easter all the chocolates are on sale which is awesome!!
I adore Easter. One of the benefits of being orthodox is that when the catholic and orthodox Easters are separated, I get a few days off just to chill. I don't have to go to church because my Easter is a little after the catholic one. Typical traditions in my family include going to church A LOT, which means as many as two times a day. I don't mind it, because we normally just stay for around an hour. On the day of Easter, we go to church again and later visit some family. We always change whose house we are going to celebrate it at. Last year, we celebrated at my aunt's house, and they decided to break tradition by instead of serving lamb, they ordered pizza. Then we went to my grandmother's house where we did eat lamb. By the end of the day, I was stuffed. I don't really care about the chocolates. Sure, I enjoy them, but for me, it is not the highlight of Easter.
For me Easter just means a 5 day break from school. I’m not religious at all so it doesn’t have a meaning for me. When I was in Vancouver, we would go to my Grandparents house for a huge turkey dinner. Now that we’re here, we usually just have a normal dinner, but occasionally get a ticket or chicken. I’m probably just going to spend my Easter weekend sleeping in until 12 and doing normal weekend activities.
For Easter, my entire family comes over to either my house or my cousin's house and there, we do normal Easter things. My youngest brother and my younger cousins do a egg-finding contest, we eat lots of chocolate, etc.. But either than that, I am super excited to have a 5 day break. During these 5 days, I am probably going to play lots of video games and go outside(if it's nice weather).
During Easter holiday, I usually spend the day either at my cousins house or at my grandmothers house. At the end of each Easter day, I go to church with my family and we stay there until its midnight. After midnight we go back home and my family and I watch a movie together and then we go to bed. I also get a lot of chocolate on Easter which is why it is one of our favourite holidays.
this year I am going down to Toronto to see some family friends. These guys are the kinds of people that you call your cousins even though they aren't your cousins. I am really hype to see them because its been a while since the last time and because I am going to meet up with my joke Toronto rapper group "2 MAD" and we are going to actually record some songs.
I don't usually celebrate Easter seeing that it isn't a big of a holiday for us as it is for Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, etc. This year, my dad's cousin is coming over from Toronto with her husband and kid, the last time I saw him he was less than a year old! I'm really excited to see him because she posts him so much on her instagram, lol, and he has grown so much since, he's turning 3 in May and we decided since this was their only week off, why not come to Quebec to celebrate.
I dont celebrate easter I mean, I do know what it is and what it is about and what you do. But I do not celebrate it. I usually play video games with friends for 48hours straight than go to sleep and wake up playing more video games. I mean 5 days off I will take it at the full advantage of playing video games.
Every year is different however we will most likely be doing something involving Eastern Orthodox with our neighbors because even if we are not religious it is still nice to spend time with family and friends over the holidays.
I celebrate Easter and one of my favourite family traditions is the famous Easter egg hunt that all my little cousins participate in. I remember the days where I would take part in this activity myself. The thrill of trying to find the most eggs, competing against my cousins and running around carrying my fluorescent pink bucket where I’d gather all my eggs. As a kid I also loved painting hard boiled eggs with my mom and baking the traditional egg cookies with multicoloured sprinkles.
Easter is a lot of fun. I don't do too much except spend time with my family, look for Easter eggs and do homework. I have a to do list of homework this year and I honestly have nothing else to do other than go to church and spend time with family, both of which I love. That being said, I am extremely excited for Easter weekend.
I don't celebrate easter for religious reasons because I am not religious, but as a kid I always did an easter hunt and it was definitely one of my favourite days of the year. Now I usually visit my grandparents and eat a lot of chocolate. My friends and I also have plans for the long weekend, because they'll visit family as well but they don't actually celebrate the holiday.
For me my family does not really celebrate Easter but my brother and I still get chocolate because we do not really see the point but we still have fun because we usually just go to the States and stay there for a couple of nights and eat at Applebees or Golden Corral
I celebrate Easter and Passover and I love celebrating both of them. For Passover I go to my moms cousins house and I see her side of the family. I get to see my cousins that I don't get to see often and it's a tradition every year. On Sunday I go to my dad's sisters house and I get to see his side of the family. I hang out with my cousins and we do an Easter egg hunt every year for the younger kids. I love to celebrate both since they are very different and I love that I get to see both sides of my family.
My family and I celebrate Easter. Well in the non religious way. Some activities and traditions include doing our yearly Easter egg hunt. We are old but it's still fun to get chocolate and I am very competitive so I do end up winning with the most Easter eggs. We do not go to church, in fact we probably go on vacation and enjoy the break before the most important time of the year for school begins.
My family doesn’t really do much for Easter. We usually get dragged to church in the morning for the Sunday service and then my parents set up a little chocolate egg hunt for my siblings. My main role during this time is to help out with hiding the eggs and also mediate between the little beasts as to make sure everyone gets an equal amount of eggs and no fights break out. These kinds of long weekends usually consist of bumming around and pigging out on discounted chocolates.
Normally my family would celebrate Easter with an Easter egg hunt. But this year Easter ended up to be on my niece's birthday. So... We have planed for 2 years, a big birthday party with the whole family there . It's a Moana party, because she is soooo obsessed with the movie:). But yea, we are going to have a moana cake and lots of other things. Then we will have our normal yearly egg hunt.
My family is pretty big on Easter, we usually host a big dinner and my whole family comes over. I would say that my favorite part about Easter because there is always a lot of good food to eat and its nice to see and hang out with my entire family. When I was a young boy my parents used to hide a bunch of gifts and candy's all over the house and I would do the hunt but now i just make them give me 20$. My favorite hunt was when my parents hid a bunch of skylander toys all over the house.
My family isn’t really a big Easter family , we used to go to church but since my parents work all long weekend we kind of stopped that tradition we usually just have a big family dinner with my grandparents .
this weekend we went to visit old fam friends that we haven't seen in a while. we usually see my grandma and aunts and uncles but since the family had been going through a recent loss we thought it was important to support them.
