Blog 44 - Wednesday, March 27, 2019

On Monday and Tuesday night, the Toronto Blue Jays were in Montreal playing exhibition games at the Olympic Stadium. Montreal hasn't had it's own baseball team for the past 15 years.
There is a project in the works with the goal of bringing Major League Baseball back to Montreal.

Do you think baseball should come back to Montreal? Would this project be successful?
If baseball came back to Montreal, would you attend a game? Explain.

  1. I really hope that Montreal gets their baseball team back because there are still a lot of die hard fans out there that would have a lot of fun watching our team play. This baseball team would also really help the Montreal. I think that I would really enjoy watching one of these games and that a lot of other people would as well considering how close the field would be.

  3. I love baseball, and it is sad that my city used to have a team one but no longer does. If you go out there, many people would love to have baseball back in this city. I am one of those people. I would definitely attend a few games. It would be good business wise, too. We already have the Olympic Stadium, and I would not be surprised if the stadium would be packed during games. I am all for it.

  4. I personally don't care if the team comes back or not but I think it would attract a lot of tourists. I think a lot of people would be happy about them coming back which would make the players a lot of money because people would be dying to get into games. Also, this would probably make a lot of older people happy and remind them of when they were kids.

  5. I have never really watched sports on tv and have never attended a professional sports match in my life and baseball is one of the sports I have seen the least of. I have probably seen even less baseball than tennis. So if we had a new team it would not affect me much. That being said it would be cool though to have a team.

I think that mtl should have a baseball team because, why not. I used to play baseball and watch every game, it's fun. Id probably go see a game but my favorite team is either the red socks or blue jays. Baseball is a fun yet slow game to watch, basically if you have an appreciation for baseball you'll enjoy it otherwise it may seem boring

  7. I believe that having team to represent Montreal would pretty cool. first of all Canada only has one professional baseball team so it would be nice to try to increase that number a bit. Also it could bring some money to the city in the form of people coming into town to watch the games and who doesn't want more money? having a team would not affect me as I have never had any interest in baseball but I still think it would be cool to have a team of our own.

  8. I don't listen to baseball enough to know if it would be a good idea or not. I guess that for true baseball fans it would be a great idea,. I don't see why a sport shouldn't be represented if it is popular. I think it might popular for people who like baseball. All I know is that personally I would not attend these games, simply because it does not interest me.

  9. Yes, I definitely think baseball should make a come back in Montreal. I personally love baseball. I find it super interesting and if the Montreal Expos were to make a return I would definitely consider going to watch a game or two. I feel like many Montreal would be very happy to see baseball return. Everyone is waiting to pull out their old Expos jerseys.

  10. I think that baseball should come back to Montreal. Many people love to watch it and the people who loved the Expos were probably really sad when they figured out that they didn't exist anymore. My dad loved the Expos and I know for a fact that if they were to come back, he would go watch many of their games. I feel like there are enough fans that the project would work very well and it would make a lot of Montrealers happy.

  11. I have to say I really don't care about baseball or would ever attend a game, but I do know that lots of people were really mad at the fact that they got rid of the team, and have been trying to get them back for years. I don't know how many people miss them though, and if they're enough people to attend every single game. I think at the beginning lots of people would maybe attend, but after a while people would just forget about it, especially if they're not good.

  12. I don't watch sports so I don't really care if they do come back, after 15 years, good for them to be coming back. If the project is successful, again, good for them because they worked hard for it and deserved it after everything, if it's not successful well they'll know they fought their best and that's all that matters in the end of the day. I wouldn't attend a game personally because I don't find baseball an interesting sport to watch.

  13. To be honest I do not care much for Baseball but having it come back to Montreal would not bother me and I know it would make some people really happy. I also feel like Montreal would kind of suck at Baseball like who do you know who really loves baseball? I feel like Montreal would be missing the passion for baseball for it to be a successful team .

    1. It’s not only players from Montreal that play for the team. There are drafts and trades you can make to have people from around the world play for Montreal in the future.

  14. Baseball isn’t my favourite sport as I never really got the chance to actually play in a league before. Anyways my dad always wanted me to play but never really got the chance to. I think bringing back the baseball team would be awesome for Montreal’s tourism. People from across the world can come to Montreal and see some basketball idle they aren’t the biggest fans of hockey or soccer. I think it would also be pretty cool to go to a game or two with my dad as he loves baseball. To be completely honest if we restarted and built a new baseball stadium it would probably take 10 years with the construction companies we have in Montreal, god they take forever to do anything.

  15. For me baseball is very huge in my family because we actually have a cousin who is in the MLB and who played for the Blue Jays last season but now he plays for the LA Dodgers, so I would love to have a baseball team in Montreal again and I still that it would be very successful and I would love to attend a game because I grew up seeing my cousin play and so baseball holds a special place in my heart.

  16. No matter what you think of baseball as a sport it would still create a huge market in Montreal. For anything from hats and T-Shirts being sold to the money generated from tickets and tourists watching the games. It would give the stagnating economy a jump start and maybe some of the money will even go to our roads.

  17. I think Montreal should get their team back. The expos were pretty good and baseball is a fun game to watch. I think that tickets would sell because there are still a lot of people who would want to see a game especially if the expos came back. I would go see a game just because its very chill and relaxing. In conclusion I think they should get their team back.

  18. I think bringing MLB back to Montreal would be amazing. I was never a huge fan of baseball, but the fact that Montreal can have another sports team will be great. I would definitely attend a game, but it was be as regularly as attending the habs games. If they bring it back, it will be successful for sure, the expos are legendary! As if now, I totally support this idea even more.

  19. I really couldn't care less about baseball. I find it a boring sport. You can condense the entire 3-4 hour game into 30 minutes if you take out all the standing around. That's why I don't have an opinion on the Expos coming back. It would be successful though, because of the nostalgia of former fans, but I personally wouldn't go to a game.

  20. I love watching baseball games. I went to see a Blue Jays game in Toronto this summer, and it was so much fun. I would love to see the a team in Montreal, if the expos came back that would be even better. I would 100% attend and I do think that it would be quite successful. Maybe not as successful as hockey, but still successful. I honestly, just love watching live sports in Montreal (with the exception of the Blue Jays in Toronto), Football, baseball and hockey. Alouettes, Habs and hopefully expos. That would be great. Bring baseball back to Montreal!

  21. I mean I don't watch to much sports I mean I feel like everyone in Montreal would want to have the team back. To be honest it doesn't effect me if they are or aren't back. So I mean do what you guys want we will probably have a rivalry like the habs and the Toronto maple leaf. I hope that they come back.

  22. As a huge fan of baseball, I don't really think its that necessary. I think it would be cool and I would probably watch but I also don't see a need for a team in Montreal. I guess I'm pretty neutral when it comes to this topic. I do play baseball though too and Im really happy that the season is starting up again so thats going toe super fun.

  23. I have never been a huge fan of sports, let alone baseball. I know very little about the sport and honestly couldn’t care less whether or not they bring back baseball to Montreal. I’m not too sure how successful the project would be, if they were to pursue it, but it would definitely make a lot of baseball fans happy to see a team back in their city. I’m guessing that sports games tend to sell pretty well. Anyway, I doubt that I’d attend a game by choice, seeing as how my interest in watching sports is next to none existent.

    1. Literally same. I never want to go back into a baseball field since the wack Boston tour.

  24. I don't really think it should be brought back. I think that whatever happened happened for a reason and it should not be a forced thing. I think what is happening is that people have the nostalgia of seeing the teem that they watched when they were children and that nobody else really cares about it. And It's also just a team. It's not like the sport died.

  25. Personally I don’t think a Montreal team would be very successful I have feel like we’re more of a hockey province I feel like a team would be more expensive then it’s worth.

  26. Personally, I watch or care about baseball, but I know that there are a lot of people in Montreal that were and are die hard fans of the expos and I am 90% sure that bringing a new expos team would only cause more fans to join. Bring a new expos team would also be a good way to bring in more revenue and also a good way to prove that Montreal is a good sports city.
