Although technology is a GREAT TOOL, it does have some limitations.  One limitation is that it could ALIENATE or ISOLATE an individual.

What do you think the world will look like in 100 years as technology continues to advance?

Explain.

  1. Personally I think that technology won't isolate people much. Before the internet people mostly had to talk to others far away by mailing them, and phoning them. Mail would take forever and phoning was expensive. Nowadays we can just take our phone and talk to people real time with no delay on the other side of the planet and we can send videos and pictures and messages instantly. I think that this will only get better in the future and we will still stay social, maybe more than now.

    1. Andres In the old days they didn't know anybody out side of their little city or town. Mostly because they didn't have a lot of cars and that they don't travel a lot because planes were just something new so they didn't need to mail to friends they probably lived near them.

    3. While I agree that technology has allowed us to communicate better with people from around the world, we have to consider that it might destroy local ways of communication. For example, video chatting with someone who lives across the world is a good thing, but I think that eventually, we will get too used to this form of communication that neighbours will just talk to each other through video chat.

  2. I personally think that in 100 years we would go too far and the robots are going to take over the world like every artificial intelligence movie ever. most of us will die trying to kill the robots. they will start by taking over all our jobs so a lot of people will be poor so we wont have weapons to fight them.

    2. A lot of jobs will be token over by robots in the futur but I dont think all and in 100 years I dont think robots are going to rule but great work. Jobs that use creativity like singers or artist and etc...

      Delete
    3. robots won't take over our world. We build AI with rules that they cannot harm humans. It's in their programming. There will still be jobs it will only be low level jobs like fast food workers that are taken by robots. It will just make people have more incentive to stay in school and get a good job.

  3. I think that in 100 years technology will be far more advanced in the types of energy that they use. I think that technology will be used a lot more in every day Life for education and cooking for example. I don't think that robots will take over the world until they have artificial intelligence that makes them capable to learn from each other

  5. A lot of things could happen in one hundred years. Technology most definitely will be integrated into our lives and there will probably be more jobs in the field of technology. I do not really know what new technologies would be created probably more high quality electronics compared to the one we have now. Perhaps people might create some useless gadgets to replace doing a manual task.

  6. In a hundred years I think that technology will be even more part of our lives. But I do not think that Robots will rule the world. For me personally I think that it is exaggerated about how we will be no more in 100 years. The maximum I think that we will reach in the future is cybernetic enhancement more on the easy side like mechanical eyes that let blind people see, a mechanical arm or hand or even a leg. These things I feel may actually come true. Also technology we have today will be even more advance such as cellphones will maybe have 128GB of ram (Ram and storage are two different things) or data is something you don't have to buy anymore. The future is something mysterious we only think and dream about all the technology we will have in the future. like flying cars or self driving cars that work and are not a prototype that keeps on crashing. We will have technology that surrounds us from maybe body parts to computers to robotic pets or even exercising will become something that people don't do because some technology can strip away fat with a snap (Get it Avengers Infinity Wars a snap). My point is that none of us really know what is going to happen. I just like anyone dream for that day to come. I just feel like simple jobs will be taken or schools will be no more they will all be online. Also I just like the rest of my generation will be dead by then. Anyway this is only a prediction of what can happen, maybe I am wrong and that robots will take over or we won't advance because some catastrophe happened and wiped out all of humanity what am I to say. Only time can tell.

  7. 100 years is long time and a lot can happen. I personally think that technology will evolve to a point that we couldn't even imagine. Robot indistinguishable from humans, holograms and maybe even teleportation. I think that the biggest difference will be the fact that people will have to leave their countries or maybe even the planet due to climate change. Massive flash floods, earthquakes and heat waves will be a common occurrence. The ice caps will be melted and our forests gone. The earth will be so far polluted and drained of its resources we might have to leave earth and search for a new home among the stars.

    3. I agree with the idea that all these natural disasters that may happen. One thing I am unsure of is if humans will move planets. I am unsure because humans bodies have adapted to be able to live, fend for themselves and reproduce with earths environment, resources and gravity. It might be difficult to adapt to a planet with a different gravitational pull. Great idea though.

      Delete
  8. In 100 years from now, I think that climate change will have reached a point to where humans could not live on this planet anymore unless we fix the problem now or in years from now. I think that we will become more advanced in technology, like robots replacing peoples jobs and possibly taking over the world. I'm joking, I don't think that robots could ever become smarter than us because we made them and can control them, also we could always just make an off switch on the robots.

  9. I think in a hundred years, we will become technology. I believe humans will have eventually created every form of technology possible that companies and industries will now attempt to come up with ways to turn humans into robots. They will advertise that with technology, we can possibly create the ‘The perfect human’, one that if made mostly out of technology will not catch diseases and viruses, there will be no such thing as race or ethnicity. I believe this will not be a good thing. While it may improve in the medical world, such as giving handicap people a robotic arm, if every human wants to get a computer for a brain or an engine for a heart, we will lose everything special about being able to call ourselves human.

    3. I find that in the future, if humans have the option that it will be smart to augment our bodies. if we are ably to add limbs, organs, etc. that function better than the real thing than i am all for it. humans are leaving their biological age and entering the digital age. i think it is also possible that we abandon our physical forms entirely and upload our brains to a computer. great blog buddy I found it really interesting!

  10. What would the world be like in terms of technology in 100 years? personally i believe the world in 100 years from now will be drastically different from our modern world and society. Our everyday lives have become so dependent on our phones, laptops,iPads, etc, But in reality how long can a society depend on technology as much as ours does before it starts to crumble? I believe there are both pros and cons to technology, for one it separates us from the people right in front of our faces yet connects us with people on different continents. Its hard to say we know what the future will look like considering how much things can change in that period of time but personally I believe technology will develop so far to a point where it will crush the very foundation of our society. People will interact less and less in person, families will be torn apart, man kind will become lazier and lazier because we will have less and less work to actually do . 100 years ago people had real responsibility nowadays work is down for us often by artificial intelligence programmed to our phones, tablets, computers etc. In conclusion i believe technology is advancing at a dangerous speed.

  11. I think that in 100 years, most of us will be unemployed since already most people are getting fired because their jobs can be done with computers which is way cheaper for the owners of the company because there have no work hours, the machines can work all day. so far I personally know three adults who have lost their job due to machines being able to do it better. I think that we will have a higher rate of being homeless, because we will have no jobs.

    1. In a hundred years I don't think most of the jobs will be taken over like I said in my blog I think the easy jobs like delivery, garbage, construction, assembling jobs will be replaced. But jobs that use more creativity is less likely to be replaced in 100 years. But great blog I fully understand ur thinking.

  12. I think that in 100 years, we won't only be taken over by technology, but we will also have it to fix many things that are wrong with the world today. We'll have it helping us improve advanced medical situations that today's technology (and people) can't figure out. I also think that school, etc will only be taught through computers and schools and teachers won't exist. There will be no need for them. I also think that kids especially will be so addicted to devices that there won't be very much social contact.

  15. In 100 years I hope there will be almost to no technology at all. It's only the 21 century and I feel as if everyone around is way too dependent on their phones and everyone is becoming more socially awkward and anxious because of it. My theory is that in 100 years there will be a huge scandal like robots taking over all of our jobs so it will make everyone want to ditch their phones and gadgets. I don't think there won't be no more electronics but there won't be an excessive amount that we have today.

I read an article were robots from google and MIT were created and are super advanced and look exactly identical! Maybe in the future we won’t be able to tell a difference between robots and humans, it’s scary and it’s true. They are artificial intelligence and in 100 years imagine how smart they’ll be. In the future, I hope people will be able to still have social lives because right now some people are already so isolated due to their phones. I 100 years Time, technologies will be our world.

  17. In 100 years, as technology continues to advance, we will clearly be more and more dependant on it. It might also affect our bodies based off of the light from the screens and the radiation from all devices. It might cause mutations, help us adapt to our technological environment or even cause new types cancer/tumors. Information would slowly merge from paper form to technological form, as it has already started to make the switch. This will also make it easier for hackers to create illegal websites, exploit things illegally on the black market and dark web and to hack into peoples files, profiles and accounts, thus making privacy almost impossible to achieve. All in all, the advancement and normalization of technology will have major effects on the human race and the way our bodies look, the way we think and generally the way we live.

    1. Artificial Intelligence will also be popularized and thus make humans dumber in a way, as they are relying on using artificial intelligence instead of their own.

  18. In 100 years from now, I know the world will be different from right now. Technology has changed so much in our generation. There's hundreds of people being injured around the world since they're so caught up on their phones and not paying attention to the real world. For instance, I agree with Ryan and Dillon about not banning earbuds, but maybe not put your music so loud so you can be cautious about the things around you. Technology is obviously way easier and faster to research for things, but taking a break is always a good idea.

  19. In a hundred years our technologie will be something our minds wouldn't even dream about. To be honest, no one really knows what the technologie will look like. People though by the 2000s there will be floating cars, and well... We dont have floating cars yet. What I am very excited about is how scientists will be able to support life on Mars. I am very interested in space and what lies beyond our galaxy. We can not be the only ones out there!

  20. I think in 100 years technology will go to far. I think more and more things will be easier to do from home like for example online school, shopping will become holographic so people can basically try it on at home. When everything's easier to do at home everyone will become lazier and stay at home, that will cause problems for basically everything. Technology has advanced so much in such a short period of time, you never really know what the future holds.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I completely agree. More and more now everything can be done within the comfort of your own home. There is barely anymore human contact. Shopping is being done online, customer service is a bunch of prerecorded voicemails, texting, video chats, calling...

  21. I think that in 100 years if technology continues to advance as it is now everyone will be very reliant on devices that help them accomplish everyday task such as devices that can make you breakfast, devices that can clean up your house, etc. These devices will be made to make humans lives easier but I don’t think that humans will build robots that will take over the world because I don’t think that humans are capable to make robots that can take over the world in only 100 years. Even though the technology we make will help us in the future it will also make us lazier and it will be harder for us to accomplish simple tasks on our own.

    1. I personally think that if we create AI that it will exist on a plain of intellect so high above what we can comprehend that they will inevitably destroy us. And it's not that the AI will dislike us in any way, but its the same thing as how we have no problem cutting down a tree although there is a birds nest in it. we will chop down the tree to further the agenda of humanity and not think twice about the birds well being. we know what it is like to be the dominant species on a planet but if you look around at the animals who are not we can see what are future may turn out to be if we are not careful.

    2. And we definitely will have the means of creating AI in the next couple of decades. Great blog though, I can appreciate your optimistic view on the future of technological advancement.

  22. One hundred years from now, I think the world will be surrounded by technology of every shape and form accessible at every individuals finger tips within seconds. Although there are thousands of new technological devices and apps being created today meant to facilitate the simple tasks executed on a daily basis and provide more environment friendly alternatives in terms of paper waste. I feel that the population will become too dependent on technology. People will become more and more lazy promoting procrastination due to the internet as well as all the distracting social media platforms. For example I would not be able to even type out this blog if it wasn't for technology you can only imagine what it would be like in the next 100 years.

  23. I believe that in 100 years we will really be in total isolation... Nowadays, people can be right beside each other and stay on their phones for hours on end. Even in school, we are starting to go more and more into the digital world making most people isolated in their work and not interacting with each other. I know that in some ways technology can help people(gathering info, math, etc) but in other ways it can be a very big disadvantage in communication skills.

  24. I think that technology needs limitations, but not that many. The amount that someone is on a device is their fault and their choice, not the device's fault. With that, I do not think that in 100 years things will change too much at all. I think that the amount of new undeveloped technology will grow exponentially, but I don't think that it will effect people as much as some stories where people go brain dead. Whilst that is a possibility, I don't think it will happen because I think someone will do something

  25. 100 Years into the future I believe that north america will discard our current system and adopt a system of virtual currency. What this will do is strengthen the difference between the social classes. The rich and the people who already have online currency will become high class, companies will charge more for products, and the middle class will not be able to afford their thing because things will be more expensive and AI will be able to do their jobs for them so they will get no money. Most office jobs, teaching jobs, and construction jobs will be replaced, leaving people jobless. As well currency will be more unprotected, so hackers will have no trouble stealing money and providing for themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 100 years from now, I think that the world will become even more dependent on technology than they are today. Modern-day technology has already given us the ability to do and experience new things without having to go too far to do so. People will be able to complete most tasks without actually having to move themselves or make much effort. Communication could be done entirely online, or however technology would allow, isolating individuals and hindering their ability to actually speak to one another. The world could become completely out of touch. People might even become entirely oblivious to what is going on around them.

    ReplyDelete
  27. In 100 years from now I think that humans will be totally isolated from the real world. Already today in 2018, technologie is preventing humans from communicating face to face. Sure, we can do it online but it's not the same as having a real conversation with someone. In 100 years, I think that technologie will be very advanced and it will prevent people from living in the real world. Technologie has benefits like when you need to know something, you can just search it up and it's a faster way to find something out instead of looking in the newspaper or a book. We already depend on technology so much in 2018 for pretty much everything that in 100 years I think that it'll be worse. Engineers have already created robots than look exactly like humans and can do the same things that we can. I'm not saying that they will take over the world but who knows what the world will be like in 100. years.

  28. In 100 years its possible that humanity would have destroyed itself. I say this not because I have no faith in us but because the power of the nuclear arsenal we possess is widely misunderstood. Most people think that a nuclear war between say, India and Pakistan wouldn’t affect them but that is not the truth. Studies have shown that a nuclear war between India and Pakistan would result in smoke trails that block out the sun worldwide within less than 2 weeks therefore drastically depleting crop harvest which will inevitably result in the deaths of about 2 billion people worldwide. This is especially scary considering the fact that Pakistan nore India have a nuclear arsenal as big as the US or China. Also take into account that the US elected trump soooo it's not like these world ending weapons are in good hands.

  29. I dont believe that robots are gonna take over in 100 years. Maybe 2 or 3 hundred years. Robots will not take over the earth because robots are programs, if we program them properly then we have nothing to worry about. I would say in 1000 years from now humains will become isolated because of all the nuclear wars happening.

    1. great blog but I think but the point of AI is that it is a sentient being that can calculate and formulate its ideas through a construct of millions of artificial neurological pathways similar but more complex than our own brains. this is dangerous because it will be more intelligent than its creators. its possible that it helps us cure diseases like cancer, etc. but also may develop its own agenda and realize that humanity may not fit to hold the mantel of responsibility to earth.

  30. I think that in 100 years there will be no more cell phones laptops or ipads because everything will be on a tiny chip inserted into your head. Also some humans who need to amputate their arms of legs will get robotic limbs because they function better than a human arm would in this case. Most medical diseases that we have today may be fixed in the future because of better technology, robots would be the ones performing the surgeries because they would have more precision. I also believe that a fraction of the human population will be gone because of robots taking over most of the jobs and basic activities that humans do.

    1. In 100 years I think that one of two things must happen. The first option is that earth will be covered in waste and we will be having difficulties to find space to live and not drown is the cesspool of garbage and sickness of our own making. Whether or not we make it out and on to another planet is a completely different debate however I do not think it is possible. The second more optimistic approach is that we will be using the oceans more and more, not only for fish but for underwater farming as well. The reason I believe this is simple. Humans already cover 43% of the earths surface and that not counting the many mountains and glaciers that are physically impossible to build cities on. So that leaves humans two options: 1. Live in the ocean ( which seems both far fetched and expensive) or 2. Move agriculture which accounts for 93% of the area occupied by humans into the ocean which leaves more land for people to live on.
