Have you ever been stood up or ditched by a friend?
How did this make you feel?
If you have never been ditched, how would you feel if you were?
Why do people ditch others?
Explain.

  1. I do not really think that I have ever been ditched. However sometimes I just have to wait a long time it kind of feels bad but it happens so rarely to me that I do not really care that much. I think that the reason people ditch others is mostly because they dislike the person and do not really want to be around them.

    3. I don't think it's that kind of ditch. More of a ditch the entire friendship than "oh they're taking too long I'll go without them"

  2. I have never been ditched by a friend, at least a close friend that I care about. I'm sure I have been ditched before and I felt sad, but I only feel affected by close friends. I find ditching people are cruel, and it shouldn't be done. It happens a lot. I'm sure when someone is ditched by a close friend they feel upset and betrayed.

  3. I’ve been ditched by some friends in my life, but later on we both realize how stupid we’ve been and hang out again, so there’s never really been a permanent ditch. Some people ditch others because they think they’re annoying or mean. Sometimes if you’re in a toxic relationship it’s good to ditch those people, because what is the point of being friends with them anyway if it’s toxic? When I was ditched I felt pretty lousy, especially about myself. I thought I wasn’t good enough, maybe mean, a horrible person, etc. It really doesn’t feel good when someone does that, because you think about everything that you might’ve done wrong. But in the end, hopefully you can make up or just forget about the person who ditched you all together.

  4. While it is not uncommon that me and my friends pull humorous, and occasionally cruel, pranks on one another, we would never be that mean to ditch one another. Sure, we might be late to an event, but we never ditch each other.
From my perspective, the only reason a person would ditch one-another is because someone does not like their counterpart. Although, if this is the case, I do not see why these two should be friends in the first place.

    1. Great blog, ditching someone can be really mean. It might be because they don't like each other, it is a valid point.

    2. Great blog! I completely agree that ditching someone is mean and the only reason people do it is because they don't like the person they had plans with.

  5. I beleive that people ditch there friends because they have a better oppurtunity to have fun or they just dont really like them. I have never really been ditched before because my friends and I are always together. There isint any reason to ditch eachother. I do admit that I have ditched people in the past. The reason was because I was in a position were I was uncomfortable. I know that when I did ditch my friends they were quite mad. Not only does it hurt the person that you ditched but it also hurts you because you realise that you wouldn't wanna be the person getting ditched. At the end of the day I realized that theirs not really any point to ditch your friends.

  7. I've been ditched before, by my best friend. We were "working" (more like intern-ing) together at camp over the summer and we were moving the tortoises for a multipurpose exhibit. We each had one tortoise and were bringing them to the lemur enclosure. When I got there, I realized she wasn't with me anymore. So I was missing a friend and a tortoise. I got a little worried about the tortoise because it belonged to the zoo, but I wasn't worried or mad at her. I just figured she'd wandered off to see the llamas, we both know the zoo well, so it wasn't a big deal at all. Although I was a little worried, about ten minutes later she came over with the tortoise and it was all good.
I don't think she intentionally ditched me and it didn't really make a difference. I think friends really ditch each other to avoid someone or have more fun, but without them. If it is intentional, the friends would clearly rather be elsewhere or away from the person.

  8. I don't think that any of my friends have ever ditched me. Whenever we hang out we do stuff that we all like and that's why we are still talking between eachother. We all have a great time when we hangout. I don't know what I would feel like if I was ditched by a close friend, betrayed maybe. I feel like if we are good enough friends that, this person will atleast tell me a real reason for which they need to leave. I wouldn't think any of my friends would just leave without me knowing. I think people ditch eachother when they might feel that the person they are ditching is a waste of their time, or they have a better place or spot they might want to go with better friends or family.

  9. I've never been ditched by a close friend. Being ditched by a close friend must be one of the worst feelings. I can't imagine it. I think however, that if one of my friends decides to ditch me they would give a reason or an explanation why. They wouldn't just come out of nowhere and decide to leave.

I think that most people ditch the other because they find that you aren't having fun anymore or something happens between them. I don't think there's another real reason to ditch someone.

  10. I don't think any friends have ditched me or i have ditched any friends, i feel like i've drifted away from other friends but never ditched them. I think the main reason people ditch they're friends for popularity or they just don't get along we'll. If like you're in a bad friendship maybe it's good to ditch other. I think that the only way i would get hurt is if someone i liked ditched me.

    2. I agree drifting apart from old friends and ditching them is two very different things. I like how you mentioned the concept of popularity as well. Great blog!

  11. I mean I have never been ditched by a friend, but I have I would feel like wow that was a dick move. I think people ditch there friends because they either need to do something they don't want them to know or they are not friends at all they just hang out and that is it it's like hi and you follow them and your not friends but friends in that sense if it makes any sense.

  12. I have been ditched a few times and it sucks. To make things even worse I have been ditched for other friends. I try not to let those kind of things get to me but sometimes it’s just so irritating. It’s fine if the person has a valid explanation and are not able to make it but when people come up with the lamest excuses that you know aren’t true it’s so infuriating. Your taking time out of your day to hang out with this person the least they can do is be straight up and honest with you. They should at least have the decency to tell you the truth. Most times when people ditch is because your either out of their way and it’s less convenient for them or a better opportunity came up.

  13. I have been ditched twice, in the "same" situation. I was going with my friends. Us sec 1s were all new to the school, and I didn't have much friends at the time of the first dance. As we met up, of course they had other friends coming from different schools. But the elementary I went to, we didn't bother staying in touch besides social media, which means after we parted we weren't close anymore. The first time I went with 2 close friends, but less than half way through the dance, they both ditched me for other friends. I was stuck doing nothing and I felt really sad and angry (obviously thinking why would they just do that to me?). The following dance came around and I told myself not to go because of what happened last time, they both insisted for me to go and they promised they wouldn't leave me, so I agreed to go but I wasn't feeling it. As we were at the dance (lets call them Carlos and Dan) they just kept telling me; "We won't leave you this time", long story short, both of them ended up leaving the dance early and went to go get frozen yogurt at the dep with another girl (lets call her Ras). The following day I decided to drop them. I don't understand why people ditch other people to hang out with other people??? (if that makes sense), in my eyes it just seems to show that; that person doesn't care about what the other person is feeling.

  14. I've definitely been ditched before but I think everyone has so it isn't something to cry over. Some people are so dumb though and when I see them they make me want to throw up and die. If you are being really irritating and mean I guess you deserve to be ditched but most of the time for a lot of people they just leave you for a better or should I say more popular option. I find it happens a lot when friends will have plans but then something better will come up with more popular people and they'll forget all about you.

  15. I don’t think that I have ever been ditched by my close friends. I don’t see the point of ditching because if you don’t want to do something, you should just tell the person that you are not interested and would rather do something else. If I was ever ditched, I would no longer see the person that ditched me as reliable or trustworthy unless they completely forgot or if something important came up. The reason I think that people ditch is because I think they don’t want to hurt the person’s feelings by saying no so they just say yes and don’t show up.

  16. I have been ditched by friends before and I've gotten used to it so it doesn't bother me that much anymore. I have never been ditched by my close friends though. The worst is when people ditch you to have other plans. One time I had made plans with someone. I showed up and waited for quite a long time and they never showed. Then obviously I looked on social media and they had made other plans with people that were more "popular" than I was. It has happened numerous times and now I don't even talk to those people. Does it bother me sometimes? yes, but I don't let it get to me since I have made new friends that are very trustworthy. I think that some people ditch others because they don't want to hurt their feeling by telling them they can't go. I don't know why the other person would think that since it hurts the person getting ditched way more when they don't show up other than saying they can't go. Either way I think it's wrong to ditch people without a valid reason because you hurt their feelings and waste their time.

  17. I do not think that I have ever been stood up or ditched by a friend. If something came up and you could not end up coming, it is common courtesy to inform the person so as not to be a complete butt who just leaves their friend waiting. Being late is understandable, but leaving a person and never showing up is just mean. The same goes for ditching. If I ever were ditched, I would probably feel very hurt. I think that people ditch others because they either do not like the person or because they just simply do not care enough to be a decent human person.

  18. I don't remember if I have or not been stood up. But if I were to be I think that I would feel hurt or slightly frustrated because I wouldn't be let known that my friend wasn't going to show up. I think that in some circumstances people stand people up because something urgent could have happened and they might have forgotten to let there friends know. Other times they might just not be good friends and not want to go and not bothered to let there friends know.

  19. I have never been stood up by my friends before.I Have good friends who value me as a person and so I don't have to worry about them just abandoning me. Though sometimes they are late I have never been stood up by anyone and I hope it stays that way for the years to come.

  20. I don't normally get ditched by friends, but there was this one time that I can remember easily. I was planning something for like a week for my friends to all come over. They all said yes, but last minute, they all(ever single one) said that they had something. It made me feel pretty sad and alone, it made me feel like they weren't really my friends.
